A CLIMBING wall is open at St Francis School funded by a charity set up in memory of a former pupil who died in a car crash.

Children have already been putting on their hard hats and harnesses to use the wall that was made possible thanks to the £20,000 Charlie's Charity donation that covered most of its cost.

The charity was set up in memory of Pewsey school pupil Charlie Lamb, who tragically died in 2009 aged 18.

Charlie was an active child and the charity now provides funding to help other young people get involved in all kinds of sport.

Andrew Piper, a trustee of the charity said: “The wall offers something for everybody, for people who are very active this offers a real challenge and groups of people can get involved too.

“We hope that it will be ideally placed in the school for use, it is early days but we want to get people as many people as possible trained in running sessions.

“We have already had the Brownies and the Scouts interested in the wall and other community groups too.”

People from Pewsey Primary School, Woodborough School and the local Girl Guide and Cubs groups, have already received training to enable their pupils or members to make full use of the climbing wall in St Francis School hall.
