TWO villages hall committees having been battling it out to be the best in a series of games events.
The friendly rivalry between Shalbourne Village Hall and Eastbury Village Hall members was in full flow when Eastbury took the victory during a Petanque match at the weekend.
The bouels game was held at Shalbourne Village Hall and a picnic followed the match.
Groups played two games of skittles and the Petanque match handed Eastbury the overall victory as they took home the first ever Shalbury Cup.
Nigel Baldock, of Shalbourne Village Hall committee said: “All players agreed that this was the culmination of three very enjoyable events so it will now become an annual competition.”
The village hall is currently raising funds to improve the roof and ceiling and improve the toilets. Committee members hope to secure funding grants to carry out the £18,000 restoration work by early 2018.
Over £5000 has already been raised by the community and £5000 was donated from the Garfield Weston Trust.
