POLICE have released CCTV images of people they would like to speak to after a 50-year-old man was left unconscious with a broken cheekbone outside a pub in Chippenham.

The man was attacked by a group of four or five men outside the Black Horse Pub in New Road, after he apparently got into a dispute with a woman who he bought a drink for on July 22.

Staff chucked the woman out for for being abusive towards the pub regular but when the victim left between 2.30-3am, he was followed by the group and cornered on St Mary's Street. He is now recovering.

Detective Constable Rob Goacher said: “We now have CCTV images of people we would like to speak to in relation to this particularly nasty assault.

"If you recognise yourself in the pictures or remember being out in town in the early hours of that Saturday morning please come forward.

"Our investigations are continuing and any information from witnesses could be extremely significant.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
