EMPLOYEES of Malmesbury business IMSM took part in a charity abseil in Swindon last week, raising funds for The Nelson Trust.
The initial fundraising target of £500 was well beaten as a figure of £1,493.36 was raised on the day – with more donations still coming in.
The charity, based in Stroud, provides support, care and housing for people recovering from alcohol and drug addiction.
Ten employees of IMSM volunteered to take part in the 130ft abseil down The Jury’s Inn, Swindon, responding to a company email for people to participate.
One of the participants, Olivia Franklin, said: “It was very high but I’ve abseiled before so for me, it wasn’t too scary. However, for the other people, I think it was quite challenging. But we all completed it and it was a great experience.”
Weather threatened to dampen the day as thunder and lightning in the area delayed the abseil but luckily the wind dropped and left fine conditions to complete it.
Ms Franklin added: “It’s not every day you get to jump off a building.”
