A CHIPPENHAM charity which supports carers and those they care for has been given more than £3,000 by a local supermarket.

A total of £3,012.34 was raised by staff and customers at the Co-op in Corsham, who supported the charity through the store’s Local Community Fund.

Chairman of Fun4All, Mike Oakes, said: “This will enable us to improve on our regular programme of events that we provide for carers, and to increase the scope and the frequency of our events.

“This is so vital to the increasing number of people who are taking on the responsibility of becoming a carer.”

The charity hold monthly events, which are often held at the Rotary Hall on Station Hill. to give some downtime to carers who are in need of a break.

The Co-op’s Corsham store manager, Nick Hampton, said: “The Co-op has always been community focussed. We’re delighted to have been able to help local causes such as Fun4All.

“All over the country good causes are benefitting from the funds raised by Co-op members when they buy own brand products services from us.

“This is really bringing to life the Co-op difference – just like the Rochdale Pioneers did back in 1844 when they set up the first Co-op shop.

“We know that by supporting local good causes great things are happening.”
