BUDDING journalists from Hardenhuish School were out on patch searching for news stories as part of the BBC's annual School Report Day.
Pupils from Year 9 started their day last Wednesday with an editorial meeting before heading around school where they secured scoops on hedgerow litter, the shooting of a headteacher in France, mental health and the recent school production of Anything Goes.
The team, who were part of 30,000 pupils from all around the UK taking part in the initiative, had to write and upload their stories to the BBC by 2pm the same day.
Will Elliott, English teacher at Hardenhuish School, who advised the year group on their work, said: “I was overwhelmed by the quality and quantity of work that the students produced during the day. They were incredibly independent throughout the process, having a very clear idea of what they wanted their end product to be and getting on with it straight away!”
Pupils from all over the country also appeared on air and online on the BBC throughout the day at the busy newsrooms of BBC headquarters in London and around local stations.
All the work produced by Year 9 can be viewed online at www.hardenhuish.wilts.sch.uk/bbcschool/
