TV star Martin Clunes will open the Julia’s House children's hospice in Devizes on Saturday, May 6.
Martin, best known for his roles in Doc Martin and Men Behaving Badly, is patron of Julia’s House will cut the ribbon to the hospice at Browfort helped by children who are being cared for.
The ribbon cutting will take place at noon followed by tours of the new building.
The hospice has a child-friendly Neolithic theme throughout and includes a large open-plan space for respite sessions, play and activities, a sensory room, three bedrooms and the Pegasus Suite, for end of life care.
Following the official opening to mark the end of building work, the new hospice will be undergo a 10-week long inspection process to gain Care Quality Commission approval before welcoming the first families in July.
Julia’s House has been offering community-based care in Wiltshire for more than three years, mainly in the southern half of the county.
The new centrally-based hospice will now give families with life-limited children county-wide access to frequent, flexible care, both in the hospice and in their own homes.
This invitation-only event will be followed by a number of public open days to welcome the Wiltshire community to the hospice.
