A PARALYMPIC athlete who will be taking part in this year’s Rio Paralympic Games took time out of his schedule to visit Sainsbury’s in Chippenham.

Wheelchair fencer Piers Gilliver visited the store on West Cepen Way last Friday where he met staff and customers.

Sainsbury’s became the first Paralympic Games only sponsor in 2012 and will have specially designed merchandise including t-shirts and wristbands for sale from August 24.

Mr Gilliver said: “It’s great that the ParalympicsGB team have the support from Sainsbury’s.

“It was brilliant meeting all of the colleagues and customers at the Chippenham store today.”

Paul Gunter, store manager at Sainsbury’s Chippenham added: “We’d like to thank Piers for visiting the store and taking the time to interact with our customers and colleagues.

“He’s a real inspiration to our colleagues and we’d also like to send a good luck message to the ParalympicsGB team.”
