The changing of the seasons will be celebrated this bank holiday at the National Trust at Avebury with a number of events and workshops.

On Monday visitors to Avebury will be able to dance round the May Pole at The Old Farmyard, view floral exhibitions and take part in workshops.

There are a number of activities for children including crown making and following one of the May Queen’s processions.

The National Trust’s Events and Programming Officer, Hazel Barry-Scott said: “The whole day should prove to be a whirlwind of laughter and colour – what a wonderful way to celebrate the beginning of May.

"I’m particularly looking forward to seeing the garden bedecked with the floral displays."

The May celebrations are open to the public from 11am to 5pm on Monday, May 2. The children’s May crown activity has a small charge and booking is essential for the floral workshops which include a cream tea.
