CALNE'S annual Lantern Parade will be led by Three Kings and their Camels from the traditional Nativity story this Saturday (Nov28).

Now in its 14th year, the lantern parade is the precursor to the town's Christmas Lights Switch On in the town centre at 5pm.

A firework finale will be followed by a live Nativity on The Wharf with local theatre group, Calne Players, forming a tableau recreating the traditional scene, which includes live animals.

A packed schedule of events for the Christmas Festival will see Santa's Grotto open from 11am to 1pm and 5.30pm to 7pm and a Rodeo Reinder between 11am and 4pm, both in the town hall.

In addition to traditional carol singers, Strings Incognito Orchestra will be giving two free performances in the town hall at 2.45pm and 5.30pm.

A special Christmas Cake made by Great British Bake Off quarter finalist Christine Wallace will be won by one lucky visitor when the baker draws a winning raffle ticket.

Raffle tickets are £1 and can be purchased from the Calne Community and Visitor Information Centre until noon on Saturday (Nov 28).

All proceeds from the ticket sales will go to the town mayor's charities, Cancer Research UK and The British Heart Foundation.
