A woman in her 80s was left with a suspected broken hip after a robber on a bike snatched her handbag as she walked along Snuff Street, Devizes, yesterday.
Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened at about 3pm.
The woman from Devizes was walking along the street when a man on a bicycle snatched her handbag causing the woman to fall. The suspect then rode off.
The woman was taken to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon with a suspected broken hip. She is currently in a stable condition.
A 33 year old man from Devizes has been arrested on suspicion of robbery. He is currently in custody.
Detective Sergeant Nicky Caffrey from Wiltshire Police said: "This is a particularly nasty robbery and we need anyone who may have seen anything suspicious taking place in Snuff Street yesterday afternoon to come forward to help us with our enquiries.
"If you saw anything or can help in anyway please call me, DS Nicky Caffrey, on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
