COMMUTERS are this morning battling a major storm to reach their destination - but forecasters say the downpours should stop soon.

The Met Office says there will be a break in the storm this morning, leaving a fresh day, with temperatures reaching 20C.

"Outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, quickly clearing through the morning leaving a largely fresh, dry and bright day with some sunny spells," he said.

"A few blustery showers will move in from the west later, perhaps turning heavy in places."

Tonight would be largely dry, he added, with patchy cloud and clear spells.

"Scattered blustery showers will continue through the first part of the night, mainly in the west," he added.

Tomorrow was set to start dry and bright with a few scattered showers.

Disruption to rail services to and from London was caused early this morning by a landslip between Westbury and Newbury.

First Great Western later tweeted that services were running normally and apologised to anyone delayed.

Services through Wiltshire from South Wales may be delayed following a fault with the signalling system between Newport and Bristol Temple Meads earlier. First Great Western said the Bristol Parkway bound line has now reopened.

MEANWHILE, the roads are busy due to slow traffic making its way through the showers.

Drivers are being urged to look out for surface water and to take extra care, particularly on the A365 at Box, near Corsham, where traffic light failure at the Box Fiveways junction was reported.
