The Bishop of Ramsbury will get Christian Aid Week off to a flying start by abseiling down a church tower in Devizes.

The Rt Rev Edward Condry and his wife, Sarah, will take part in the leap of faith at St Mary’s Church, New Park Street Devizes on Sunday (10).

The fundraising will get under way with clergy from Devizes churches jumping between noon and 1pm and then Bishop Ed will take his turn at about 4pm.

Registration is still open, with spaces available on the day, at a cost of £15.

Christian Aid will celebrate its 70th birthday on May 13 and this year’s Christian Aid Week will run from May 10 to 16.

Bishop Edward said: "I am delighted to have the opportunity to support Christian Aid Week, and I'm very much looking forward to abseiling down the tower of St Mary’s. Christian Aid does excellent work around the world.”

There will be a barbecue, music, tea and cake, messy church activities and a teddy bear zipwire to entertain all the family during the afternoon.
