FOOTBALL legend Sir Alex Ferguson paid a visit to Manton yesterday stopping off at The Outside Chance for a bite to eat.
It is believed that the former Manchester United manager was in the area looking at racehorses.
Racehorse trainer George Baker, based at Barton Yard on the Manton Estate, trains Ferguson's horse I'm Fraam Govan.
He wrote in his blog: "In other news, my wife was spotted leaving the yard at lunchtime arm in arm with a retired football manager. Luckily, I found them in The Outside Chance."
After lunch at the pub, which is owned by Guy Sangster and Howard Spooner, he met members of staff, shook their hands and signed merchandise for them.
Head chef Chris Wyatt wrote on Facebook: “Well I can safely say I didn't get the hair dryer treatment from Sir Alex Ferguson after he had lunch at the pub today, he must've loved it which he did.”
