London Road in Chippenham is open to traffic again after a two week closure to resurface the potholed road.
It had been expected to be closed all month but Wiltshire Council said work is now finished except for some footway resurfacing which should be done over the next week.
The fresh white and yellow lines had barely had time to dry on the stretch near the Long Close turning, when Wessex Water had to dig up the road again to fix a burst water pipe last Friday.
The water company apologised for any inconvenience and said the road was reinstated on Tuesday.
