Our Give Us A Chance appeal for Devizes Opportunity Centre was given a tasty boost by an Indian restaurant that donated £1,000.

Supporters held a curry night at the Taste of Bengal restaurant in New Park Street, Devizes, in October.

Owner Omar Mannon visited the centre, which caters for children up to age five with learning difficulties last week. He presented the cheque to manager Betty Newman and centre chairman Graham Gaiger.

Mr Gaiger and Mr Mannon are both connected with Potterne Cricket Club and the restaurant owner was pleased to help the cause.

Mr Gaiger said: “I have known Omar for many years, both as a colleague at Potterne Cricket Club and as a customer in the Taste of Bengal.

“I was delighted when he said he wanted to do something to help the centre and the curry night was a real success. The food was great, everyone enjoyed themselves and we made a lot of money. I am very grateful to all at The Taste of Bengal.”
