Devizes Opportunity Centre mum Rachel Pickford is having sleepless nights in the run-up to the Worton Family Fun Day on July 26.

She said: “The organising has taken over my life. I just hope that people turn up on the day and really enjoy themselves.”

The fun day was the idea of Rachel’s parents Paul and Hilary Hams, who run Hams Transport in Devizes and live in Worton. They wanted to raise money for the centre which helps their grandson Izzy, three, who has diplegia cerebral palsy.

Mrs Pickford, who works for the family business, said: “It was my dad’s idea but for the past four months organising seems to be my main job. But we have had so much support it is incredible.”

The fun day, on a field at the back of the Old Forge garage in High Street, Worton, will run from 11am to 6pm and include live music,a dog show, martial arts demonstration, head shave, fairground rides, a vintage vehicle display and sheep shearing.

If anyone has a vintage vehicle they would like to display, call (01380) 726837.
