Four young girls did a roaring trade when they cooked up tasty treats to help a charity that protects wildlife and threatened habitats.

Lola Roberts, ten, her sister Eliza, seven, Freya Cleverley, ten, and Cresida Wilshaw set up a stall outside The Old Rectory Tearoom in Castle Combe and raised £180 for the World Land Trust.

It brings the amount the youngsters have raised for the charity through baking and other activities in the past year to £500.

Anna Roberts, who runs the tea room and gift shop, said: “They sold cakes and biscuits that they made from scratch themselves.

“They insisted they do it all, so I have no idea what they all actually tasted like as they were sold out before I could try any.

“They also laid on games for children which were thoroughly enjoyed by all.”

Lola, Eliza and Freya are all pupils of By Brook Valley School in Yatton Keynell while Cresida’s family, who live in London, have a weekend home in Castle Combe.

Mrs Roberts said: “They have really put an awful lot of energy and effort into their fundraising activities. Now that they have reached their target of £500, they will send a cheque to the World Land Trust and I have no doubt that they will start again.”
