The Seend Beer Festival attracted more visitors than last year.

Just over 800 people attended the festival which took place all day on Saturday at Seend Community Centre.

One of the organisers Richard Todhunter said he was pleased with the turn out considering the weather was not as hot as last year.

He said: "The weather was kind to us. It was a bit windy and cool but it didn't rain which was the main thing. The festival was excellent. Each year it gets bigger and busier.

"We had people from Wiltshire, Frome, Bath and Cambridgeshire attend."

Families and couples attended and while parents enjoyed a pint of beer or non alcoholic drinks children played on the playing field opposite.

The festival, in its eighth year, was sponsored by Wiltshire based opticians Haine & Smith.

Live music was played and a new performer to the festival was Devizes based singer Claire Covington plus Wiltshire based Carnaby Street, who played 60s mod and new wave music.

Returning to the festival was Black Sheep, a folk band from Dorset.

There was a choice of 35 beers and ten ciders and virtually all were sold out by the end of the evening. Tally Ho and Country Pale were among the most popular beers.

The takings are still to be counted by Mr Todhunter believes the festival will have raised about £3,000 which will go the Seend Community Centre funds.
