SCHOOL pupils in Hullavington have helped put the village in the history books by burying a time capsule.

Youngsters from the primary school put together a box full of items they felt represented life in 2008 and buried it at the new Swallow View housing development.

The carefully-chosen artefacts collected by the children and their headteacher, John Barlow, included postcards showing views of the town and the surrounding area, a map of the county and pictures of the children with their time capsule.

The youngsters donned hard hats and high visibility vests when they visited the site to see their capsule and where it will be buried.

Pauline Fletcher, sales and marketing director for George Wimpey South West said: "As a housing developer, we feel it is important to capture the spirit of the communities we are building in.

"By burying a time capsule at the site and asking the local children to contribute, we can help preserve the history of Hullavington in 2008."
