School fundraisers are waiting to see if the Wolfman will affect their scarecrow trail.

Friends of Lacock CE primary school are preparing for their annual scarecrow trail but learned only last week that a Hollywood blockbuster starring Anthony Hopkins, is being filmed the day before the trail opens.

The trail will open with a Scarecrow Fayre tomorrow from 2pm to 4pm and will remain on show until April 20.

Jane Wheeler, 36, vice chairman of Friends of Lacock School said: "We only found out three days ago that the filming would overlap with the scarecrow trail.

"So we're quite unsure how this will affect the turnout. Last year we had about 6,000 people taking part raising over £9,000 for the school.

But this year the trail does not fall in the Easter holidays, though the filming should have a positive effect on the number of visitors."

Children and parents in the village have been making the scarecrows since January with this year's Cat and Dog theme.

Mrs Wheeler, who has two daughters, Abigail, nine, and Hannah, five, at the school said: "It's such a fantastic event because the children get so excited and competitive about making the scarecrows."

During the trail's two week run visitors can take part in guessing the names of 46 scarecrows placed around the four main streets of Lacock.

Trail sheets. available from the school, village shop and other local businesses, cost £2 each and all proceeds go to the school. The person with the most correct answers wins a £250 voucher to spend in Watlings Goldsmith's jewellery shop and a £30 book token for the child.
