Corsham mum dies of mystery virus
 |
| Kerry KIng |
The family of mum-of-four Kerry King have spoken of their shock after she was found dead days before she was due to receive the results of tests into a mystery virus.
Mrs King, 39, of Bences Lane, Corsham, was found dead by husband John, 38, at their home on Good Friday.
She had been unwell since January and was due last Friday to receive the results of tests carried out at the Royal United Hospital in Bath. She leaves behind children Philip, 18, Jennifer, 17, Marcus, 13, and Matthew, 12, and two grandsons, Jamie, 18 months, and Tyler, eight weeks, who are Philip's children.
Mr King said: "Although Kerry was quite run down, we just thought it was a virus or her anaemia. I never thought it would come to this. There were no signs to show it would end in that way at all."
Mrs King had worked for three years as a general merchandise supervisor at Sainsbury's in Chippenham.
Shocked staff have sent condolence cards to the family and a bouquet.
Mrs King lived in Corsham for most of her life. She was born in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, but her parents, Mavis and Herbie Pragnell, moved to Sandy Lane when she was a child.
She went to Derry Hill Primary School and John Bentley School in Calne.
After leaving school she went to work for a milkman in Corsham where she met her husband.
They celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary a week before she died.
Mr King said: "She had many friends in Corsham, Calne and Chippenham mainly through school and work, but also through occasional socialising.
"She was a people person. She also loved animals and had four ponies when she was young.
"She will be greatly missed."
Her daughter Jennifer King, 17, said: "Everybody used to come up to me and tell me how great my mum was. She was helpful with everyone, staff and customers."
Mr King said the family has been touched by the support from the town. He said: "We have received more than 40 cards from family and friends, and a bouquet from the staff at Sainsbury's.
"She was a very outgoing woman, always up for a challenge. The community is quite tightly knit and so the cards and phone calls came flooding in. Everyone is being really supportive."
Mrs King's funeral service was at 1.30pm at St Bartholomew's Church, Corsham, yesterday. A burial service will take place at Ladbroke Lane cemetery for family.
Family and friends will then meet at the Royal British Legion. The family has asked for donations to St Bart's spire appeal or to St Bartholomew's Church.
