Veterinary nurse’s charity Cuban cycle
SADDLING UP: Clare Lambern ready for her cycle trek
SADDLING UP: Clare Lambern ready for her cycle trek

CORSHAM veterinary nurse, Clare Lambern is holding an Easter egg hunt at her daughter's nursery school to raise money for a charity cycle ride across Cuba next year.

Mrs Lambern, 38, of Southerwicks, Corsham, has organised the egg hunt at Snapdragon's in Bath where her daughter Elise, three, is a pupil, on Saturday.

She is charging £2.50 admission per child.

The money raised will go towards her target of £3,000 she needs to raise by December to pay for the trip.

Through sponsorship events and raising awareness she has already managed to raise £1,057.

Her cycling challenge will take place in March 2009.

Mrs Lambern said: "I am taking part in this event not only for charity but to get in shape as well, I want to lose weight. For me, this is a personal challenge, not a race or a holiday."

The trip involves cycling 230 miles across Cuba for the charity Women For Women founded by fertility expert Professor Robert Winston.

The charity raises money and promotes awareness of women's issues, particularly health concerns.

It has already raised nearly £1.5 million for the Institute of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Trust.

It attracts the help of hundreds of women across the UK including This Morning TV presenter Fern Britton, who is taking part in an event later this year.

Mrs Lambern has already planned her next event, a band night at The Royal Oak in Corsham on June 21.

She said: "I am concentrating on these two events at the moment but I will be holding more events before December to raise the rest of the £3,000."

The money raised will pay for the trip expenses of £1,300 and the rest of the sponsorship money will go to Women for Women.

For more information about Mrs Lambern's trip to Cuba or her future events call her on 07763 379978.
