Three more post office closures confirmed
10:55am Tuesday 8th April 2008 in News By Gazette Reporter
The closure and replacement by outreach service of Avebury, Lacock, and Yatton Keynell Post Office branches has been confirmed today in a decision released by Post Office Ltd.
But the detail of each outreach solution will be subject to a further six week period of local public consultation commencing on a date to be confirmed shortly.
The decision was announced following the conclusion of a further review with consumer body Postwatch.
The plan confirmed today means that 36 branches will close or have already closed under the West Berkshire and Wiltshire area plan and 11 branches will be replaced by outreach solutions.
These decisions have been reached after public consultation and Postwatch, the consumer body representing Post Office customers, has verified the correct consultation procedures were followed.
Full details of the decisions and the issues raised during local public consultation are available by clicking on the link below.
Tim Nicholls, Post Office Ltd's Network Development Manager for West Berkshire and Wiltshire, said: "These are difficult decisions which have not been taken lightly. We considered very carefully all the comments made during the public consultation and carried out a further review of six branches at the request of consumer body, Postwatch."
