Car break-ins in Calne

Police are hunting a gang of thieves who broke into five cars overnight in Calne.

The break-ins happened on Sunday evening between 10pm and 6.30am in Fynamore Gardens and Wessington Avenue.

Thieves made off with Sat Navs, a briefcase and a DVD player.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the break-ins and warning people not to leave any objects of value in their vehicles.

Inspector Gavin Williams, of Chippenham and Calne Police, said: "We urge people not to leave any items of value in their cars overnight.

"These thefts have been very opportunist with thieves breaking windows of cars to grab any items that are visible.

"If anyone has any information on these break ins please contact Calne Police."

Police have even urged drivers to remove their Sat Nav holder when they leave their cars as this can lead thieves to think there is a Sat Nav in the vehicle.

If you have any information about the break-ins contact Calne Police on 0845 408 7000.

Or give information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
