Students celebrate World Book Week

Students at St Dunstan's hold weird and wonderful creatures

WEIRD and wonderful animals were invited to St Dunstan School as part of World Book Week.

Pupils from the Calne School were asked to bring their pets in to create a mini zoo on Wednesday.

Students surprised teachers with reptiles, lizards and frogs.

Teacher Phil Northwood said: "The children really responded to the animals. The bearded dragon lizard proved very popular but when the snake started moving the children were fascinated.

"All the age groups responded very well and we even produced a little information booklet like a real zoo.

""The whole idea of a zoo was to encourage children to learn about the variety of animals that are around.

"Thankfully none of the animals escaped but we had strict rules they weren't allowed out of the cages.

"All in all we had about ten different species of animals and everyone really enjoyed themselves."

As well as snakes and lizards pupils brought in traditional pets such as guinea pigs and hamsters.
