BNP leafleting in Calne
NATIONALIST party the BNP have been leafleting homes across Calne as part of a massive campaign.
Furious residents complained to police after the far right party pushed propaganda through their door.
The leaflet claims that robberies, muggings and sexual assaults are on the up across the country.
It reads: "While the police are sat at the side of the motorway or in political correctness classes the real criminals are free to wreck decent peoples' lives.
"A wave of anti social behaviour is sweeping our streets and estates with a minority of rowdy youths making life unpleasant for the law abiding majority."
Landlord of The Kings Arm in Calne Richard Snell said: "The BNP have picked an electoral stance to become more attractive to the electorate and get more people involved.
"They are not showing their true colours."
Deputy sector head for Chippenham, Corsham and Calne Sgt Steve Cox said: "Wiltshire Police is a non political organisation.
"However we are aware of certain information which has been circulating within Calne.
"We would like to reassure the public that we have a visible presence policing the town 24 hours each day, this is in addition to the neighbourhood policing teams based at Calne police station."
BNP member Robert Baggs said the leafleting was part of a town wide campaign and not related to the upcoming by election.
He said: "We had decided to do a big campaign in Calne. The leaflet was a deliberate choice as people are concerned with the level of crime in Calne.
"We want to tell people we provide answers to some of these problems. We are not frightened of tackling the issues other parties shy away from."
After UKIP councillor Jill Martin resigned people in Calne called for a by election.
Mr Baggs would not confirm he will be running for BNP and it is rumoured former councillor Ellie Bland will stand for the Lickhill seat.
Mad hatter Geoff Brown will stand for the green party.

Leaflet: Received it, read it and approve of it! I note the police do not dispute its contents! What I can't understand is what it has got to do with the landlord of the Kings Arms - is a multiculturalist by any chane?
By the way who are these "furious people" - couldn't be supporters of the Tory & Labour Parties - you know - those people who approve of Miliband/Brown signing away what remained of our national sovereignty in Lisbon yesterday could it? Didn't we once hang traitors?

So, the truth is now called propoganda if it is published by a legal political party. I am also furious that I had a pack of lies pushed through my letterbox. It was a labour leaflet. "The BNP have picked an electoral stance to become more attractive to the electorate and get more people involved." Dur...that's what politicians are supposed to do. Represent the populations wishes.

Mr Snell obviously does not believe in Free Speech. To quote the great philosopher Voltaire: "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it’.”

Does anyone really care about Calne. It's an ugly town full of council people and grotty council estates.. Get rid of all council houses and watch the crime rates fall!

Tis sadly true. Backalong a while, Council Estates had a good mix of folk livin' there, but the ones who could bought their houses, then sold them and moved away. I've lived in Melksham man and boy fer over 60 years, and I've seen the estates slide downhill, same as Calne. Forty years ago a good honest working father 'ud take a strap tp a kid caught damaging other people's property. Now he's likely to do it himself. And us do all know the main cause - booze. I wasn't for National Service, aving ad a right sod of a sergint major for 18 months, but it kept half a million young men off the streets and the dole.

The problem is the "do gooders" stopping parents from smacking their kids. Ive got 3 kids they all had a smack when they were naughty, also if i had another child now, it would also get a smack when naughty, regardless pc.

Don't know why you thought that. No serious paper I know of, is politically neutral, they usually have an axe to grind. If you don't like the politics you have two choices and only one is cheap. Don't read the paper or buy the whole paper and change the political slant.

....just out of interest, so who were these "furious residents"??? - those that think that there aren't any problems that need to be tackled?
One thing did make me chuckle, and i quote,"we have a visible presence policing the town 24 hours each day" - if this is the case, why does it take on average well over 20mins from calling the police before someone arrives?
Anyone proactive in sorting out the criminal element gets my vote, its long overdue.

rosco, chippenham, "Based on what do you say it takes 20 mins? I've never called them so cannot say how long they take, have you called them out so many times you can quote an average like this? And for what?".
1. When my son and his friend got assaulted on their way home. (30 mins approx)
2. Some idiot that attempted to threatend me with a golf club (police didn't even show)
3. Countless times over bloody mini moto's (took care of it ourselves as they failed to respond)
...I could go on, but the police don't get called by us any more unless it is theft or serious assault. You a policeman per chance?

I was told by a control room operator that calne does not always have police covering calne anyway, so it would explain the time to attend a problem in calne if they have to come from say chippenham.

The BNP are a legitimate political party, if I agree with their views or not. They have a right to leaflet, and we have the right to ignore it, or vote for them.
Not news, and indeed we provide more publicity for them if we treat it as such. The BNP must be laughing all the way to the ballot box, the only other party which comes close to getting such free coverage is the Tory party and James' bedhopping!!

What exactly verifies a political party? A manifesto? A few chairpersons? A few Union Jack balloons...?
You people are being played by this 'we're only thinking what you're thinking...' the Conservatives legitimately evoked this debate under Howard regarding difficult issues such as immigration and crime control. You were sceptical then, so why not now?!?
Entering into Europe, valid debate. Managing immigration, valid debate.
But the core fundamentals of BNP's beliefs; removing citizens of non-indigenous origin (peacefully or otherwise) is wrong. Recriminalising homosexuality. Capital punishment. Patriachy, likewise.
Sorry Robert, but I strongly disagree. You don't speak for me, and if more people took the time to pore over your manifesto, I would hope you wouldn't speak for them either. You can't just pick and choose a selective ideology. Hence the cliché; 'at least Hitler made the trains run on time...'

That's the point. In fact they couldn't exist without fear. Which is why they stoke the fires.
And as for wanting the country back, well, that's not that easy, is it? Presumably people want it returned to a time before 'mass immigration'. So when's that? The 1950s? The early ninth century? The end of the Roman era?
How about we all try to get along? And, for that, I'm amongst the first to say that the onus is on the immigrants to integrate. But a Britain that sues all the talents it can get will be a stronger Britain. And maybe ebtter at cricket too.

Still no response on my points on homosexuality, capital punishment or the role of women! Just a little bit of nitpicking and point-missing.
I'd hate to be thought of as a scaremongering leftie, so I've had a peek at the BNP site and it seems the Police are taking on Polish Officers. So that'll cut the crime, won't it?
Hooray! Merry [italic]Winterval![/italic]
You'll have to explain to me why two massively diverse cities as Leicester and Birmingham have massive [bold]CHRISTMAS[/bold] decorations this year another time.

That's refreshing. I take it BNP Head of Publicity Mark Collett no longer thinks of them as 'Aids Monkeys'?

Joey, glad to some someone with an iota os sense on this sight.
Most of the mongs who comment here are so typically, and for want of a better word(s), hillybilly/ 'send 'em home'/we want our empire back brigade.
Perhaps b4 they praise up the bnp/NF as they do on this site so often they should take a little time to look at the darker side of their ethos.
Little Englanders...i laugh at you.
From a proud englishman who hates what people like them would have the country become...Daily Mail/Express land.

I had to laugh when Dave (The moderate view of the public) Refers to other contributors, who for whatever reason find comfort in the BNP manifesto, as 'Mongs'
Mongs/Mongoloid/Down
s Syndrome.
Stunning observation Dave, I'll let you stew in your ignorance and embarrassment.

Don from Devizes writes that he can deny the country is going downhill fast. Well, Don, you must be in a lovely little bubble! You obviously havent tried to get a doctors appointment lately or needed treatment in hospital -otherwise that might have given you an inkling!! Think of all the unfortunate people living on large council estates where uncontrolled teens riot and nothing is done to protect the tennants.

There may be alot of issues in this country that need dealing with but the BNP are hardly a credible solution they are just a fringe party who occassionally like now get some attention.

The PC brigade will go mad, hearing a criticism of the poor deprived little sh*ts, sorry, teenagers, who have nothing to do except vandalise other people's property and assault passers-by. It is so frustrating to read that not too many years ago, they'd have been swinging on the local gallows!

Robert
The BNP is full of Nazis, and that’s official. Don’t take my word for it but listen to the BNP. Even they now admit that their leadership is rammed full of Hitler worshippers, Holocaust deniers and nazi saluting loons.
As the internal splits inside the BNP deepen it seems that every side is accusing each other of being “neo-Nazis”.
Nick Griffin has accused the rebels as being an “ultra-right Militant Tendency” within the BNP pushing “of cranky neo-Nazi conspiracy theories”. The rebels for their part never stop reminding us of Collett’s own public nazi sympathies and Griffin’s Holocaust denial, to say nothing of the picture of the BNP leader giving a nazi salute in Scotland, alongside many of the very same people that he is now accusing of being Nazis!
So, the BNP is full of nazis. Well, tell us something we didn’t know!

Awake, I recently recieved excellent, prompt and highly professional care for appendicitis within 12 hours of any signs of trouble. Hardly the reason to run screaming to a bunch of racist thugs.
Contrary to Daily Mail/Express/Sun reports, this country in an irreversible decline. Much of the spiel that is reproduced by BNP supporters is scaremongering and simply panders to a media-driven public perception of the country.
A point of note for many above; there is no "PC" brigade. Do you object to not being able to address someone based on the colour of their skin?
You seem not to resent the change of words, but the lack of offence these now cause. Barely concealed racism. Rumours including the "blackboard/whiteboa
rd", "Rainbow Sheep" and the like are complete, and utter fabrications.
There is no sense!
