THE foot and mouth crisis has forced the closure of the Rickmansworth Aquadrome.
The measure is merely precautionary and there have been no reported cases of the disease in Hertfordshire.
Mr Ted Massey, chief environmental health officer at Three Rivers District Council, said: "The disease is so contagious that it seemed prudent to take this step at this time. Lots of people and wildlife use the aquadrome and we feel we must do all we can to help halt the spread of this terrible disease.
"We are asking for everybody's co-operation and would hope they would also keep away from farms, grazing land and any area where they might come into contact with any animals that could spread or catch the disease."
