... it's not exactly a
Community Choir, is it?
I love a sign-song, me, but this seems inaccessible to anyone who's not free in the afternoons. More of a group for retired people and the leisured middle-classes, I might suggest. Nothing wrong with that, just it's not exactly representative.
... they could do a lot worse than copying
this race.
Just a thought.
Or shouldn't be.
Anyway, I was in there for a meeting on Monday night. And I noticed the offers: Breakspear's (3.4%) at £.60 a pint, Courage Best (4%) at £1.45 ant 6X for £1.50.
I'm glad I've sworn off the Evil Stuff for a while else I might have really sold out.
Wonder if they'll have similar deals next time I'm not being seen dead in there in October.
I'm not plugging my own event here. This is being organised by
our Mayor, Jane Burton, to raise money for her appeal.
It should be a fun evening and it is, of course, in aid of a good cause. The quiz will be held in the Town HAll and starts at 19:30. If you want any more information, contact
elanoroddy@devizes-tc.gov.uk or call 722160.
I'll be putting a team in. And there must be some of you out there who can stop Lewis Cowen't "Informers" from winning yet another quiz.
So, don't say you had enough notice. See you there.
When I first read
this article, I felt the same as some who've made comments - stuff him, he brought it on himself, where are more worthy causes, etc.
But this bloke is actually seeking help. He's screwed up and he wants to get back on the straight and narrow. Good for him and his family. There's a good chance that he could start contributing to society again if eh gets himself sorted.
But if he doesn't, his life will come to an early end. But, before that happens, chances are that he'll end up on benefits, which will cost us. And the benefits won't be enough to maintain the habit, so he'll probably indulge in a bit of thieving and general scrotery to get the money. And that damages us more.
So, if someone genuinely wants to get himself straight again, isn’t it in all of our interests to help him?
Now, if they don't want help ... that's a completely different matter.
And it won't this year either. And
these good people agree with me too.
Enjoy the carnival.
