First Chippenham mother and baby roadshow hailed a success

People flocked to a mother and baby roadshow held in Chippenham to raise money for the town’s Birthing Centre at Chippenham Hospital.

The event was held at the Neeld Hall last month and raised £3,700.

At the event were numerous stalls from local businesses selling everything from baby equipment, photography, crafts, to personal fitness, jewellery, nappies and cakes. Peppa Pig and Gilbert Bear also made special appearances.

The money raised will be used to refurbish the Birthing Centre and provide a more homely environment for mothers and their babies.

Meg Cooper, a midwife at the centre, said: “The mother and baby roadshow was extremely successful. It was a brilliant day, the sun was shining and we had so many people turn up to support us.

“It is definitely something we would like to host again and we are planning to make it an annual event. It is a great way to give people a chance to find out more about our Birthing Centre and get involved with the local community.”
