Saturday promises a feast for foodies in Marlborough
More than 68 trade stands at the annual Feast of Food on Saturday will not only give visitors an array of things to taste and try it will also provide some ideas for Christmas presents.
With exhibitors coming from as far away as the Isle of Wight, a huge array of stands will give visitors a great opportunity to taste sausages, venison pies and smoked gourmet meats as well as try the popular Ramsbury Brewery’s beers.
Local producers include Marlborough Mushrooms who grow a variety of exotic varieties; Gastro Nicks foods and wines; Wiltshire Liqueur Co Ltd and Wiltshire Chilli Farm.
The Feast of Food is taking place for the ninth year and over the years it has raised about £10,000 for Cancer Research UK whose local branch organises it.
It has become traditional for the fair to be held at Marlborough College during its mid-term break and once again its stalls will pack the Norwood Hall dining hall and an adjacent marquee on the lawn in the Court.
There will be free parking available behind the Memorial Hall with disabled parking right outside the Norwood Hall.
One of the organisers, Anne Deuchar said: “This will be a great opportunity for those special gifts for Christmas.
“There is excellent access for all, wonderful children's face painting, and delicious home-made cakes and sandwiches from our CRUK Cafe all day.”
Mrs Deuchar said 80p in every pound raised by Cancer Research UK goes directly to research into combating and seeking out cures the disease.
The fair will be open from 10am to 4pm and admission will be £4. For more information visit www.marlboroughcancerresearch.org
