Highway feedback is sought

SHERSTON Parish Council is eager for feedback over amended highway plans released by Wiltshire Council.

The proposals include the installation of a raised footpath with a kerb, separating it from the highway, and all plastic islands are to be removed and replaced where necessary with wooden planters. Improvements are being proposed primarily for reasons of road safety – especially for pedestrians.

Wiltshire Council has agreed a grant of £20,000 towards these works with a further £5,000 being provided by the Malmesbury Area Board. The parish council has agreed the scheme in principle and will contribute £5,000 to the total cost of £30,000.

There will be a public meeting to hear a presentation of the scheme by Martin Rose, a principal highways engineer from Wiltshire Council, on October 17 at the village hall.

The details of any changes are subject to final approval by both Sherston Parish Council and the conservation officers of Wiltshire Council. Views on the plan are now requested by the parish council, and can be sent to the Clerk of Sherston Parish Council either by post or by email at clerk@sherston.org.uk
