By-election is on cards

The resignation of Calne town councillor Chris Dobbie could lead to a by-election for the Lickhill Ward.
Last week Mr Dobbie wrote to give notice after he and his partner decided to move away from the town.
Mr Dobbie was elected as a councillor in March, 2009, and also helped to start the Calne Boxing Club at Beversbrook.
Town councillor Mich-elle Pearce said: “It will be a shame to see him go.”
A by-election to fill Mr Dobbie’s place can only be held if ten electors from the ward write to ask the returning officer for this by October 25. If an election is not requested, the town council must fill the vacancy by co-option.
