Calne children get arty for charity card contest
4:00pm Sunday 7th October 2012 in News
Young artists can enter a Christmas card competition to have their designs sold at a local supermarket.
The winners of the competition, organised by Sainsbury’s in Calne, will help to raise money for the store’s charity of the year, Hannah’s Trees.
It was set up in memory of former Sheldon School pupil Hannah Owen, who died of cancer at just 13 in December 2009, and aims to bring festive cheer to children in local hospices by delivering Christmas trees and decorations.
Hannah’s mum, Chris Lamb, of Bentley Lane, Calne, said she was delighted the competition was being run and even after Christmas is over she plans to use the cards to send thank you messages on behalf of the charity.
Up to 100 trees will be delivered by the charity to hospices this year.
The five categories in the competition are pre-school and key-stages 1, 2, 3 and 4. The closing date is October 19 and entries must be on an A4 white piece of paper, with name, contact details and age. Email to hannahstrees@ fsmail.net or pop it in the post box at Sainsbury’s.
