The Devizes half marathon, last run almost 20 years ago, is to return, sponsored by local brewers Wadworth & Co.
On Sunday, October 21, runners will gather for the 13.1-mile run on The Green, organised by Events Logic UK.
The course will then take competitors through the town and on a tour of the villages of Horton, All Cann-ings and Etchilhampton before looping back onto London Road and finishing on The Green.
The Devizes half marathon used to be organised by hairdresser Terry Miles along a similar course until he found the effort of arranging it almost single-handedly too much for him.
There are already several road races in the town, most notably the Kennet Kanter, a ten-mile trail run in June or July and involving the towpath of the Kennet and Avon Canal, including the long climb alongside the Caen Hill flight of locks.
