Chippenham Scouts prepare to tidy up Pewsham Park

Chippenham Town Council and the 10th Chippenham Scout Group have joined forces to help tidy up a popular play area.

Both this Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm volunteers from the 10th Chippenham Scout Group have offered their services to tidy up the grounds at Pewsham Park and specifically painting the fencing surrounding the children’s play area.

The town council has recently installed new football goals in addition to laying artificial grass in the goal mouth areas, provided a new multi-play unit and further enhancements are planned in the coming months.

The Scouts are keen to ensure this local park looks its best and by offering their services will be working towards their Community Challenge Award badge.

Adrian Jones, head of service delivery at Chippenham Town Council, said: “We are delighted that the 10th Chippenham Scout Group are keen to work with us to ensure the play facilities at Pewsham Park are clean, tidy and presentable.

"All Scouts aim to help others and there is no better way of showing this by getting involved in their local community. I am so pleased they have offered their spare time to make a difference to Pewsham Park and I hope they learn some new practical skills and achieve their Community Award”.

Leon Brooke, assistant leader of the 10th Chippenham Scout Group, said: “This is a great opportunity to work in the local community on something that will benefit the public and members of our group now and in the future.

"The work the young people are planning to do is positive and will no doubt encourage them to play an active role in Chippenham and their local community. Together with the town council we hope to make a positive difference to this popular play area serving Pewsham.”
