RUH AGM offers help for COPD sufferers
3:00pm Thursday 20th September 2012 in News By Jill Crooks
MEMBERS of the public can find out how the Royal United Hospital, Bath, is improving the care provided to patients with a common, debilitating disease.
Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) experience progressively worsening breathlessness over many years, interspersed with ‘exacerbations’ during which they suffer an acute
deterioration in symptoms, resulting in frequent admissions to hospital.
Respiratory physician Dr Vidan Masani will be talking about the work the RUH is doing to improve care for this group of patients at the hospital’s annual general meeting on Wednesday (September 26)
at the Assembly Rooms, Bath, at 5.15pm.
Also speaking will be Dr Alastair Kerr, elderly care consultant, who will talk about how the hospital is improving care for patients at the end of their lives.
