Duty calls on charity cycle ride from Colerne

Some of the servicemen who cycled for the Royal British Legion, National Memorial Arboretum and Armed Forces Benevolent Fund
A group of 11 servicemen cycled 127 miles from Colerne’s Azimghur Barr-acks to the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire on Wednesday in aid of three good causes.
The cyclists, 10 of whom are based at the barracks serving with 21st Signal Regiment (Air Support), left at around 5.30am, arriving at the UK’s centre of remembrance in time for lunch.
The team, completed by Andy Williams, the vice chairman of Colerne’s Royal British Legion branch, have so far raised over £200 to be split between the Royal British Legion, the National Memorial Arboretum and Armed Forces Benevolent Fund.
Lieutenant Colonel Andy Aitken, said: “Not only are we raising money for worthy causes but we are building community spirit with our local RBL branch and the village of Colerne.”
The regiment is due to be deployed to Afghan-istan in November 2013.
The group visited the main memorial which pays tribute to personnel who lost their lives in conflict, terrorist action or on exercises since the Second World War.
