Comedy shining at Devizes club
8:00pm Thursday 20th September 2012 in News
The reopened Moonrakers Comedy Club was sold out at the opening night at its new venue.
The club has moved to the Cellar Bar in the Bear Hotel after two years at the Bell By the Green pub.
Its first gig at the Cellar Bar on September 6 was a resounding success.
Founder Martin Brown, of Bromham, said: “The night was a sell out. The venue is smaller than the Bell but this made for a cracking atmosphere. We had a good mix of regulars from the Bell, plus around 20 people who were new to the club.
“About half a dozen people were not from Devizes. They said they had come along as they heard by word of mouth about us, so it is good we are getting a reputation for putting on good quality.”
Comedians Nick Page, who regularly plays big venues in London, performed.
He said: “It’s a well-run club with a lovely room and great audience.”
Punter Phillip Oliver said: “It’s the best night out in Devizes and fantastic value.
“Where else around here can you see four great comedians for only £8?”
The next gig is on October 4 featuring Ben Harrington, Mark Hurman and Hal Cruttenden. For details, visit www.moonrakerscomedy.com
