Trial over alleged robberies

A teenager is to face trial accused of a string of knifepoint robberies.
Joseph Kingsley, 19, is said to have tried to hold up five shops and two petrol stations during a three-week period.
He is also accused of being armed with a knife during six alleged incidents in Swin-don, Royal Wootton Bassett, Chippenham and Corsham.
Kingsley, of Lower Field, Allington, Chippenham, pleaded not guilty to six counts of robbery, one of attempted robbery and six of having a bladed article.
The allegations relate to incidents at Oakleys news-agents in Corsham on March 19; Costcutters, Corsham, on March 22; Esso, on Kingshill Road, Swindon, on March 30; Esso, Royal Wootton Bassett, March 31; one week later at Best One Express, Clifton Street, Swindon; and at McColls, Chippenham, and the Hythe Road Store, Swindon, both on April 9.
The case was adjourned to January 2 at Swindon Crown Court and Kingsley was remanded in custody until then.
