Wiltshire MPs receive new posts in Coalition Cabinet reshuffle
2:04pm Thursday 6th September 2012 in News By Will Frampton
Both of West Wiltshire's MPs have been appointed to new posts in this week's Coalition Cabinet reshuffle.
South West Wiltshire MP Andrew Murrison has been appointed Minister for International Defence and Security.
A former medical officer in the Royal Navy, Dr Murrison has previously served as shadow health minister, and as parliamentary private secretary to former Health Secretary Andrew Lansley.
The Conservative MP has been asked also to continue in his role as the Prime Minister’s Special Representative on the Centenary Commemoration of the First World War.
“I am delighted to be appointed a defence minister by David Cameron, especially given my background in the Armed Forces and local constituency interests,” he said.
Meanwhile Chippenham MP Duncan Hames has taken over from his wife Jo Swinson in the role of parliamentary private secretary for Deputy Prime Minister and Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg.
On his Twitter feed he said he was ‘looking forward to the challenge’.
