Hillworth Park gets live band bonanza
12:31pm Thursday 6th September 2012 in News
Hillworth Park in Devizes is one of hundreds of places in the UK that will feature live bands on Sunday as part of the national Bandstand Marathon.
The free event coincides with the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games in London.
Although Hillworth Park does not have a bandstand, there will be a marquee where the bands will play.
Those performing are Devizes Town Band, Kennet Vale Brass and Sing Alive community choir, from 1pm to 5pm.
The park has featured live bands since it reopened after its £1.8million revamp in July.
Mike Hasted, the town council’s park development officer, said: “The response has been very good. We have had folk and rock bands. We noticed that when the band finished at the last event the park emptied.
“We want to do a range of different types of events so the music fits in with the overall programme.”
On Saturday, the park will feature traditional woodland crafts.
There will be chainsaw carving, wood turning, hurdle making, birds of prey and guided walks under the trees.
The event is from 11am to 3pm.
