Warm weather ensured a healthy turnout at Axford village fete that took place on the Jubilee Field on Saturday.

Although there was much entertainment on offer, with Ramsbury Silver Band playing, a display of vintage cars and an array of stalls, it was the dog show that caused most excitement.

One of the organisers, Carol Barnes, said: “We had lots of entries and everyone had such a great time. There was also a duck race on the river that was very well supported and the lovely weather meant that lots of people turned up.

“It is difficult to say exactly how many we had, but it must have been between 250 and 300 people.

“It was also an opportunity to say thank you to Bridget and Geoffrey Treherne who have organised the fete for so many years but have now stood down.”

The event raised funds for the village hall and the church. It is not known exactly how much was raised.
