A group of men with connections with St Michael’s Primary School in Ald-bourne, who either have children there or went there themselves, plan to cycle from the village to Paris next week to raise funds for the school and two other charities.
They hope to make at least £4,500 to be shared between St Michael’s school, Alzheimer’s Support and Naomi House children’s hospice, said organiser Matt Reynolds, who has a family member suffering from dementia.
Only one of the cyclists, Adam Elkins, has any
cycling experience, and the other six, Mr Reynolds, Ashley Smith, Tom Connolly, David Newham, Steve Morris and Tim Farrow have either had to get bikes down from garage roofs or borrow one to get in some training before they set off at 8am next Wednesday from The Crown pub.
They plan to take four days to get to Paris, said Mr Reynolds, 39, reaching it on August 11.
