Time to enter this year's Mayoral Christmas card contest

Chippenham Town Mayor, Cllr. Andy Phillips has launched a competition for children to design this year’s Mayoral Christmas Card.

The competition is open to all children attending nursery, primary and secondary schools in Chippenham or of nursery, primary and secondary school age and living in the town.

The Mayor will personally choose the winning design. He said: “Whisper it quietly - Christmas is just around the corner! That means it is time for this year's Mayor's Christmas Card Competition, which is even bigger this year covering young children in nursery schools through to young adults nearing the end of their school days.

"There is one simple aim - design a traditional style Christmas card promoting some aspect of the town.

"The winner will be invited to be my guest at the town’s Christmas Lights switch on, on Friday, November 23."

The winning design will be used on the Mayor’s Christmas card on behalf of Chippenham Town Council, and which will be posted to hundreds of the council’s special contacts in the run up to the festive season.

All entries will be displayed in The Yelde Hall in the lead-up to Christmas.

To enter the contest, send in an original design on A4 paper. The back of the design should be clearly marked with the name, age, (school and class), address and telephone number of the entrant.

then, either post entries to Mary Laing, Mayor’s Secretary, The Town Hall, High Street, Chippenham, Wiltshire, SN15 3ER or leave them in the red Post Box at the Community & Visitor Information Centre.

Entries close on Wednesday, October 24.
