New headteacher prepares to take the reins at Chirton school
11:30am Tuesday 31st July 2012 in News By Lewis Cowen
The new headteacher at Chirton Primary School has been named as Sue Chivers, replacing Kate Lloyd Jones, who resigned last week.
Mrs Chivers will join the school in September and parents, carers and villagers have been invited to the school assembly on September 4 to meet her and hear about the plans for future of the
school.
Chairman of governors, Nicky Wragg, said: “In the spirit of a fresh start for this year, the classrooms have been renamed Kennet and Avon.
"The pupils will be taking part in a visit during the first week of term to the canal visitor centre to find out all about the Kennet and Avon Canal and its history.”
The school was due to close for good at the end of this year but a rescue plan is being worked out with Wiltshire Council and Salisbury Diocese and it will definitely remain open until at least
next July.
