Vehicles must stop to let fire engines out of Ludgershall station

Drivers in Ludgershall are being reminded to comply with the flashing ‘stop’ signs outside the town’s fire station.

Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service use the signs whenever the fire engine is about to leave the building.

Station manager Jason Underwood said: “The signs are there for the safety of other road users, as there simply isn’t room for us to get the truck out and the station doors shut without encroaching onto the highway.

“We are asking drivers to take heed of these warnings and to wait just a minute until the crew has left safely.

"The last thing we want is for an accident to happen, especially when we are already responding to an emergency.”
