Chippenham fireman Rob Warwick has already had one taste of the Olympic Games but he will soon be getting even closer to the action.

Mr Warwick, 46, had the privilege of carrying the Olympic Torch through Chippenham in May.

Now he will be heading off to London for a month to be part of the medical team, helping injured athletes and crowd members.

Scotsman Mr Warwick said: “I filled out the volunteer form when they advertised and got interviewed for the medic position.

“I don’t have any specific medical experience, just what I have gained through the Fire Service.

“I will be working in the team in the Olympic Stadium. Some of the team will be helping athletes, some will be dealing with the crowd and some will be doing both.”
