The rain held off for Seend Brownies to celebrate the pack’s 90th birthday.

The village pack was formed in 1922 and still meets on Mondays at the Irene Usher Memorial Hall. On Saturday, the group celebrated at the hall and playing field with a barbecue, games and of course a birthday cake. Five new members took their Brownie Promise, and the guests of honour were four former members of the pack, who were brownies in the 1930s, ’40s and ’50s.

Leader Helen Hook said: “Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. We had a lot of parental support and the guides had done the barbecue for us.

“It’s absolutely fabulous we’re still going.”

The brownies enjoyed a series of activities and games both indoors and outside, while the parents chatted.
