Church café is approved for Market Lavington

Permission has been granted to build a church-run cafe in Market Lavington.

The cafe will be in an empty office in Church Street and will sell frozen yoghurts, ice creams, milk shakes, hot drinks and Christian greeting cards and books. It will be a not-for-profit project, subsidised by commercially letting the upstairs flat.

The building is in the process of being bought by the United Reformed Church (URC) Western Synod, which recently sold its chapel building in High Street, Market Lavington.

The parish council objected to the plan on the grounds that the premises was too small for a cafe and it could damage other retail outlets.
